Machine Knit Chair For Joan Didion
Machine Knitting and Found chair
An ode and materialization of one of my favorite writers Joan Didion, I custom machine knit the "sweater" that stretches over the found chrome frame.
This chair is fully functional and sit-able, as small eyelets in the fabric (created by a hand tooling technique called pointelle) were created to allow for cotton rope to be woven between the knit to provide structure.
A copy of Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Didion sits in the book pocket located at the lower front of the chair.
